After breakfast at the hotel you will travel to one of the most sacred and loaded with history places in Armenia - the monastery. Virap Choir. Its very name means “deep pit” - a reference to the underground prison in which Saint Gregory the Illuminator spent 14 years before healing King Trdat III and laying the foundations of Christian Armenia. Here, at the closest point to the legendary Mount Ararat, you'll face one of the most breathtaking vistas in the entire country - the majestic silhouette of the biblical mountain towering over the plains, contemplated for centuries with reverence and hope.
We continue to one of Armenia's hidden architectural gems - Noravank Monastery. Set amid reddish canyons and sheer cliffs, this 13th century masterpiece impresses not only for its rich cultural and spiritual significance, but also for its bold and elegant design. Designed by the legendary Armenian architect and sculptor Momik, Noravank is one of the few monasteries in the world with two floors vertically stacked on top of each other - an architectural feat that fits perfectly into the harsh natural setting around it.
Against the backdrop of these ancient and inspiring views, we will pause for lunch in a village Areni - home of one of the most delicious Armenian dishes: chorovac, juicy and aromatic Armenian barbecue cooked over a live fire in the traditional way.
After the delicious experience awaits us an encounter with one of the most amazing archaeological discoveries of our time - the the oldest winery in the world, dating back to 6100 BC, discovered in Areni. We will visit a local winery where we will taste wine made from the unique local variety Areni Noar, grown at the foot of the rocky hills and imbued with the spirit of the millennia. In addition, the world's oldest leather shoe has been discovered here - further proof of the deep roots of this land.
In the evening we return to Yerevan, where the day will end with dinner in a traditional restaurantYou will try a plethora of - stuffed pumpkin with rice, fruit and aromatic spices, served warm and fragrant, in the company of other local specialties. A taste of Armenia will embrace you with the warmth and richness of its cuisine - the end of a day that will stay with you long after the last bite and sip.
