Day 1 01.05.2025 - Departure to Ashgabat

Group meeting on 01.05.2025 at Sofia Airport. Flight to Ashgabat. Once we arrive at Ashgabat airport, we will be met by our friend and local guide who will accompany us to the hotel. The rest of the day the program is free - time to rest.

We start the day with an exciting trip back in time, with our first stop being the ancient city of Nisa - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set amidst picturesque landscapes, this archaeological complex reveals the secrets of the ancient Parthian Empire and impresses with ruins of palaces, temples and fortress walls.

Then we head to The National Museum, where a rich collection of artefacts preserving thousands of years of history and culture of the region awaits us. We explore rare finds of gold, ceramics and textiles that transport us to different eras and tell stories of greatness and tradition.

We continue to the mosque-mausoleum of Turkmenbashi - one of the most impressive religious buildings in the country. Its graceful domes and majestic architecture evoke admiration as we learn more about the spiritual significance of the place.

Our walk ends in Park of inspiration - a peaceful and green space filled with monuments of great poets and thinkers. As we walk along the paths, we feel the harmony between nature and art, which creates an atmosphere of calm and reflection.

After a relaxing morning and time to unwind at the hotel, we set off on an unforgettable adventure to one of Central Asia's most spectacular natural wonders - the Darwaza gas crater, known as "The Door to Hell".

Our journey passes through harsh desert landscapes where vast horizons and golden dunes create a sense of remoteness and mystique. Along the way, we'll stop to explore mud and water craters - unique natural formations that enhance the sense of another planet.

At sunset we arrive at Darwaza, where we are greeted by a breathtaking sight - the fiery flames erupting from the bowels of the earth give the impression of a living fire dancing against the night sky. Here we will have the opportunity to enjoy the magical atmosphere of this place while dining on a barbecue under the open sky, surrounded by the vast wilderness.

After an exciting evening, we prepare for an overnight stay in traditional yurts or tents that offer an authentic experience amidst the silence of the desert and the millions of stars above us. This night will remain forever in our memories as one of the most impressive experiences of this trip.

Hotel: Darvaza Yurt Camp.

The day begins with a cozy breakfast at the camp, surrounded by the tranquility of the desert and the first rays of sunlight caressing the horizon. After a refreshing start, we make our way back to Ashgabat, where a visit to the famous stables for Akhal-Teke horses - a true symbol of Turkmenistan.

Here we will have the opportunity to meet one of the most ancient and noble breeds in the world. With their elegance, endurance and golden lustre, Akhal-Teke horses are called "heavenly horses" and are considered a national treasure. We'll learn more about their history, breeding and training, and there will even be an opportunity to pet them or get in the saddle for a short ride for those who wish.

After the tour we continue with a transfer to the airport for an evening flight to Turkmenbashi - city on the Caspian Sea. Upon arrival we will head to our hotel where a well-deserved rest awaits us before the next exciting experiences.

After breakfast, we set off on a journey to one of Turkmenistan's most spectacular natural wonders - Yangikala Canyons. Our road passes through endless steppes and harsh desert landscapes, while the majestic view of the canyons gradually unfolds before our eyes.

With its time-sculpted rock formations in shades of fiery reds, pinks and whites, Yangikala resembles a surreal landscape plucked as if from another world. We'll stop at a few viewpoints where we'll enjoy dramatic views and the chance to capture the magic of this place with unforgettable photos.

After this impressive nature walk we continue to Gozli Atta - sacred place and a popular destination for pilgrims. Here we will visit house of worshipwhere we will learn about the stories and legends of the holy man whose name the place bears. Exploring the the local cemetery, decorated with traditional tombstones and symbols, provides us with the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the cultural and spiritual traditions of the region.

After this day full of emotions and impressions we continue to Balkanabad. where dinner and an overnight stay in a cozy hotel await us, providing a well-deserved rest before our next adventure.

Our journey continues with an exciting excursion to the picturesque village of Nohor, nestled in the mountain hills of Kopetdag. During the journey, we are treated to breathtaking views of the rugged cliff tops and lush green valleys that surround this isolated and mystical settlement.

Arriving in Nohor, we will immerse ourselves in its unique atmosphere, where time seems to have stood still. The village is famous for its traditional crafts - the hand-woven carpets, the clay vessels and the masterfully crafted souvenirs that carry the spirit of ancient skills passed down through generations. We will have the opportunity to meet local artisans who will show us their techniques and tell us about the symbolism woven into their work.

The village is also home to tribal culture, preserved its rituals and beliefs. We will visit the old cemetery with its unusual tombstones decorated with mountain goat horns, a symbol of strength and protection.

After exploring Nohor, we head to one of the most unique natural wonders of the region - the underground lake Kov-Ata. Located in a cave deep underground, the lake impresses with its warm mineral waters and mysterious atmosphere. Adventure lovers will have the opportunity to swimming in the crystal clear waters, while others can enjoy the tranquility and coolness of this natural sanctuary.

After this day of cultural discovery and natural wonders, we return to Ashgabat, charged with new impressions and memories.

An early morning flight takes us from Ashgabat to Turkmenabad, from where we continue to the border with Uzbekistan. After passing the border formalities, we head to one of the most magnificent cities of the Silk Road - Buhara.

Bukhara welcomes us with its genuine atmosphere, where every street and building tells stories of its rich history as an important commercial and cultural centre. We start the tour with Ark Fortress - an ancient citadel that once served as home to local emirs. The building impresses with its massive walls and imposing gates, behind which hide halls, palaces and mosques reflecting the grandeur of the past.

We continue with a visit to the mausoleum of Ismail Samani - a true masterpiece of early Islamic architecture. The building, made of exquisitely baked bricks, fascinates with its symmetry and detailed ornaments that give a sense of timelessness and harmony.

Our tour ends with the ensemble Poi-Kalyan - an emblematic symbol of Bukhara. The complex includes the majestic Kalyan Minaret, which towers like a landmark over the town, Kalyan Mosque, impressive for its scale and decorations, and Mir-e-Arab madrasah, where students are still trained today.

In every corner of this ancient city we will find traces of its rich past, immersing us in the atmosphere of one of the most important cultural and spiritual centres in Central Asia.

Hotel: 4* Mercure Bukhara Old Town

Food: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Our walk through Buhara begins with a walking tour through the narrow, cobbled streets of this ancient city - a true gem of the Silk Road. We'll soak up the atmosphere of one of Central Asia's oldest commercial and cultural centres, where time seems to have stood still.

The tour includes a visit to magnificent madrasas, which impress with their exquisitely decorated facades and rich ornaments. These architectural masterpieces tell stories of centuries of learning, religion and cultural exchange.

We continue to commercial domes - Ancient bazaars where traders from all over the world used to meet. Today you will find artisan workshops and markets offering handmade carpets, ceramics, jewellery and textiles that reflect the centuries-old traditions of the region.

The evening will end with traditional dance performance, held in one of the historic buildings of the city. We will enjoy colourful costumes, graceful movements and rhythmic music that will transport us to the atmosphere of the old oriental palaces and festivities.

Tonight is the culmination of a day filled with history, culture and unforgettable impressions of Bukhara.

Our journey continues to the legendary Samarkand - a city that captivates with its mystique and grandeur, untouched over the centuries. Along the way, we'll enjoy the changing landscapes, from endless plains to picturesque hills, setting the stage for our encounter with one of the Silk Road's greatest cultural and historical centers.

Upon our arrival we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurantwhere we will taste traditional Uzbek dishes, and then check in to a cozy hotel offering a chance to rest before our afternoon adventures.

After a short break, we start exploring Samarkand, as our first stop is Gur-emir Mausoleum - the eternal resting place of the great conqueror Timur (Tamerlane). The building impresses with a majestic dome in turquoise shades and delicate ornaments that reveal the elegance of Islamic architecture. Inside, we will experience the spirit of the past, contemplating the rich marble tombstones and semi-precious stones decorating the interior.

We continue to ensemble Registan - the heart of Samarkand and one of the most remarkable architectural complexes in the world. Composed of three majestic madrasas - Ulugh Beg, Sher-Dor and Tilia-Cori, Registan impresses with its sculpted facades, artful mosaics and symmetrical arches. Here we will learn about the history of this symbol of learning and art, as well as the craftsmanship of the artisans who created this architectural gem.

The day ends with free time to feel the pulse of Samarkand before enjoying dinner and a well-deserved rest at the hotel.

The day at Samarkand continues with an immersion into its rich history and cultural heritage. We will start with a tour of Museumswhich tell the story of this ancient city - a crossroads of civilizations and an important center of the Silk Road. We will explore artefacts that preserve the spirit of the ages, from fine pottery and coins to ancient manuscripts and weapons that testify to Samarkand's greatness as the capital of empires.

Then we will head to Ulubek Observatory - one of the oldest astronomical centres in the world. Built in the 15th century by the great scientist and ruler Ulubek, the observatory impresses with its time-advanced instruments and mathematical calculations. We will learn how astronomers of this era used the stars to create the most accurate calendars and navigational charts. The massive marble sextant, preserved to this day, is a true testament to the scientific genius of the time.

After the observatory tour, we will visit the the silk factory, where we will learn about the traditional methods of producing the famous Samarkand silk. We will observe the whole process - from the processing of the silk threads to the dyeing and making of fabrics with unique ornaments. Here we will have the opportunity to talk to local craftsmen and find out the secrets of this ancient craft preserved through generations.

This day in Samarkand will reveal the science, art and crafts that have shaped the city's image as a centre of knowledge and trade in Central Asia.

Our journey continues to Tashkent - Uzbekistan's dynamic and modern capital, where tradition meets modernity. Upon arrival, we head to walk around the new part of the city, which impresses with wide boulevards, green parks and elegant architecture.

We start with a visit to central squares, which are the lively hearts of the city. Amir Temur Square, dedicated to the legendary conqueror, welcomes us with a statue of the great ruler on horseback, surrounded by modern buildings and fountains. We will also see Independence Square, a symbol of freedom and national spirit, where majestic monuments and colourful gardens create an atmosphere of solemnity.

We continue to the opera and drama theatres, whose facades combine classical and oriental elements. The theatre "Navoi." is particularly impressive for its exquisite columns and decorations, and its interior reveals the city's rich cultural scene.

The walk also takes us to lively markets, where we can feel the pulse of local life. Chorsu Market, one of the oldest in the region, offers a wide selection of spices, dried fruits, hand-woven textiles and ceramics. The colours and aromas of the market create an unforgettable sense of the East, and the vendors greet every visitor with a smile.

A tour of Tashkent reveals the unique harmony between historical roots and the modern rhythm of life, leaving lasting impressions of the spirit and energy of this modern city.

Our walk in old part of Tashkent reveals the city's rich historical heritage, where every street holds memories of the past and traditions of this ancient commercial centre.

We start with visiting the historical siteswhich testify to the cultural diversity and spiritual significance of Tashkent over the centuries. We will look at Hast-Imam complex, which is a symbol of religious architecture in the city. Here is located Medrese Barak Khan, built in the 16th century, and Tila Sheikh Mosque, where the world-famous Quran of Osman - one of the oldest existing specimens in the world.

We continue with a visit to Museums, where we will immerse ourselves in the rich history and cultural heritage of the region. Exhibits include artifacts from ancient times, fine ceramics, textiles and tools reflecting the life and art of the Uzbek people through the ages.

Our walk ends in the famous Chorsu market - a real treasure trove of aromas, colours and sounds. Located under a huge blue dome, this bustling bazaar is the heart of local commerce and offers an abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables, aromatic spices and traditional delicacies. We'll have the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of an oriental market, meet local traders and sample some of the region's best flavours.

This walk through the old part of Tashkent takes us on a journey through time, revealing the history, culture and dynamics of the city that make it so unique and exciting.

Hotel: Hyatt Regency Tashkent

The group left the hotel in Tashkent and headed to Sofia airport, where the adventure ended, but the memories remain!

The hotel accommodation is based on two adults sharing a standard room with two single beds or one double bed. Please note that the choice of specific accommodation type is subject to availability and subject to confirmation. Check-in time at hotels is around 14:00 and check-out time is 12:00 noon. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to room availability and may incur an additional charge.

Food: Breakfast is served at the hotel. A buffet breakfast is served in most hotels. Some hotels may only provide a local breakfast. Lunch and dinner are mixed cuisine, served in local restaurants or the hotel where a menu can be negotiated. For any special meal request, such as Indian food, vegetarian food, Hala or Western food, or any special requirements related to dining in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, please inform us in advance. We will try to arrange it based on your request, additional charges may apply.

Visa fee is others: 

  • Visa for Turkmenistan - The visa fee is 85 + 4 USD per personwhen issued on arrival at Ashgabat Airport. Please note that the amount may be subject to change and depends on the nationality of the travellers.

  • Migration fee for Turkmenistan - Additional charge 10 + 4 USD per person on arrival at Ashgabat Airport. This fee is also subject to change.

  • PCR test - If a PCR test is required in Turkmenistan, the fee is 33 USD per person

  • eVisa for Uzbekistan - Some nationalities require e-visa worth 25 USD per person. Travellers with Bulgarian passport are exempt from visa requirements for Uzbekistan.

 

Extra baggage fees, anything outside these parameters is considered extra baggage: adults and children are entitled to free checked baggage in economy class 20 kg, business class 30 kg and first class 40 kg. Tips for local guides, escorts, drivers, greeters, etc. Tips are not compulsory, but are now widely accepted in many countries and are given as a token of a job well done and in recognition of good service. The recommended amount for tips is approximately 10,00$ per day.

Personal expences, such as extra baggage fees, Sim cards, meals beyond what is stated, extra activities, etc., are at your own expense.

To enjoy this adventure to the fullest, we recommend that you prepare all necessary documents, including visas and international passports valid for at least 6 months after the end of the trip. Bring cash in US dollars (USD) for local expenditure, as credit cards and euros are not accepted to Turkmenistan.

Dress comfortably and according to the season - light clothes for daytime walks and warmer clothes for desert evenings. Don't forget comfortable shoes for exploring historic sites and natural attractions.
